Symmetry #5

My buddy and I used to cycle to this place in Yishun after finishing our late shifts at the 7-11. We whiled the night away with intellectually stimulating subjects like religion, politics and members of the opposite sex. Always awestrucked with the scene at dawn and being the naive city slickers that we are, we also declared that this lake is the most magical and most beautiful place ever.

That was 17 years ago. Of course now we know that the lake is actually a man-made reservoir. And the magical scene is… just plain dawn breaking. My friend has settled halfway around the world in Portland Oregon, blessed with lakes much grander and dawns more breathtaking than we’ll ever see here.

I smiled, chuckled at the thought and pressed the shutter button.

Suggestive and peaceful photo! I love the colors you got here and the reflections on the lake too.

We looked ahead of us and wonder if there was more than this beauty. The night seem very short. The light breeze was our relief from the humid evening. We felt free, very free and away from the fast HDB town life. I remember clearly how guilty I felt for not telling my parents of our getaway. Well, now 17 yrs later, I decided to atone it by telling my parents of my permanent getaway, just some 10,000 miles away from home.

This is a wondeful photo. The colors and tones are great. Very crisp photo. I only wish I could produce something like this. How did you process this?

  • Thom

Excellent colors and clarity, and the line of buoy really adds some direction into the pic, giving an overall Calm, and symmetry look, all at HD Quality…=-). At 25sec exposure value, how did you manage to get such a clear reflection off the water? Must have been really really calm at that time. Did you bag another shot with a lower viewpoint, including just a little more of the foreground? Nice job.
